Register Version 3.0.8—Fix 1

Background Batch Close printing, EBT card formats, and a clearer PIN key error

  • Release date: August 25, 2026
  • Build: v3.0.8.911
  • Rollout: Optional. Not installed automatically.
  • Action required: To get these changes, update Register to v3.0.8.911 through TMS.
  • Affected areas: Automatic Batch Close printing, EBT Manual Entry, EBT PIN entry, ECR Tip selection

Register 3.0.8 Fix 1 improves day-to-day reliability across Batch Close printing, ECR, and EBT transactions.

Print automatic Batch Close reports when Register is not open

Improved · Batch Close printing

What changed: Register Service now prints configured automatic Batch Close reports after the terminal receives the printing instruction, even when the Register app is in the background, isn't open, or the device is locked. Existing report options are unchanged: Batch Summary, Detailed Statement, or both. Batch Close completion is still determined by the Gateway or backend result, so a local printing failure doesn't change a completed Batch Close. Manual Batch Close and historical report reprinting are unchanged.

Why it matters: Merchants receive their configured reports even when no one has Register open.

Support EBT Manual Entry card-number formats

Improved · EBT Manual Entry

What changed: EBT Food and EBT Cash Manual Entry no longer apply Credit or Debit card-number rules before submission:

  • Card numbers display as continuous digits, without inserted hyphens.
  • Luhn and card-brand validation no longer apply.
  • The 19-digit maximum stays in place.

Credit and Debit Manual Entry are unchanged.

Why it matters: EBT card numbers issued by different states can be entered as issued.

Show a clearer message when the PIN key is missing

Improved · EBT PIN entry

What changed: When EBT PIN entry fails because the terminal doesn't have the required PIN key injected, Register now shows Key not injected instead of Enter PIN canceled. After the cashier acknowledges the message, the EBT transaction ends and Register returns to the previous page. Cancelled PIN entry and other PIN failures keep their existing messages.

Why it matters: Cashiers and support can tell a missing PIN key apart from a cancelled PIN entry.

Fixes

  • ECR Tip selection: Tapping the close button repeatedly on the Tip page during an ECR transaction no longer leaves Register on a blank screen.

Known limitations

  • Automatic Batch Close printing still needs the terminal to receive the printing instruction and an available printer. An offline or powered-off terminal, empty paper roll, paper jam, or printer failure can prevent printing.
  • Register doesn't check PIN key status before opening the PIN entry page.
